ABOUT Wildfrost

Wildfrost is a tactical roguelike deckbuilder developed by Deadpan Games’ Will Lewis, in collaboration with popular game artist, Gaziter. With the core gameplay systems in place, Deadpan Games needed additional Unity expertise to facilitate Wildfrost’s port to other platforms. In particular, they required assistance with adapting Wildfrost’s control system to support controller input.

Working in collaboration with Will, we developed a bespoke UI and control management system that provided complete flexibility and seamless transition between mouse/keyboard and controller input. The result? Great reviews about the user experience on Switch and Steam Deck, with Screen Rant writing “Wildfrost’s UI/UX also deserves special mention, translating perfectly to controller… small touches like these elevate Wildfrost into the upper tiers of the genre.”

CONTROLLER SUPPORT

We developed a control manager that enabled seamless switching between mouse/keyboard and controller inputs, resulting in positive reviews that directly called out the intuitiveness of the user experience when using a controller.

DYNAMIC UI

The control manager we developed was built upon a bespoke dynamic UI management system that would automatically manage priorities and contextualise player input based on the game scene, delivering a dynamic and adaptable solution.

Maximum FLEXIBILITY

By building the control management functionality using Rewired, we ensured universal controller support for whatever platform Wildfrost would be ported to, providing complete flexibility and scalability for Will and Deadpan Games.
